Games Writing and Narrative Design

I love the diverse ways in which stories can be told in video games and how they leave their mark on players.

I like to go beyond my role as a Community Manager and explore this area of game development as a professional collaborator and a passionate hobbyist.

Narrative design and games writing is a holistic art that should work in synergy with other disciplines/gameplay mechanics to deliver memorable moments. Please find examples of my work below.

As I have previously worked within studios without a dedicated narrative function, I've strived to make myself available to opportunities that have allowed me to assist with games writing and narrative design-focused tasks - given my discipline focus at university and my passion for creative writing.

Unannounced Game

For this unannounced game, currently under NDA, I've assisted the Narrative Lead in tone exploration to find the right fit for our project. I've also assisted with worldbuilding documentation and development while writing briefs for community-requested NPCs that fit the narrative wrapper and overall feel of the game.

nDreams & Sony Pictures VR

Ghostbusters: Rise of the Ghost Lord

Assisted the Game Director in the copywriting and copyediting of the early story pitch document to ensure it was coherent, succinct, polished, and brand compliant for the IP ahead of a key development gateway. I also got to contribute some of my own narrative ideas to the project.

Working with the Brand team I helped once again with copywriting and copyediting for the pitch deck ahead of a meeting with a key platform holder. In this, I helped to communicate the in-game features, story overview, and gameplay features would be best communicated within that narrative context.
